What do people typically fish for, and where are good spots?
Guests typically catch smallmouth, redeye, and bluegill in the stream (most to least frequent). The dam and the bridge are easy-access spots where many people catch bigger fish, thanks to the rocks and boulders there.
Where are the kayaks and what is the float like?
Kayaks are available and located at the dam near the first dome on site; please see the sign there for safety information. The easy float is short-ish and goes past an otter den and several domes. There is also a much longer shaded float—ask us about it when you are here. When you reach the barn you will hit some shallows; if you wade through, the next stretch of flat water is shaded, goes on a long way, and offers a great chance of seeing wildlife.

How does the wood-fired hot tub work and how long does it take to heat?
Start a fire in the burner much like the fire pit: use a fire starter and split wood into small pieces first, then stack larger ones. Once the fire is going it runs automatically—just keep an active flame when you want heat. With a good fire it typically takes about 2–3 hours depending on the starting temperature; smaller splits burn hotter. A thermometer is provided; 100–104°F is typical.
